UNMIS recently organized
a one-day workshop in Juba, Southern
Sudan, on UN Security Council Resolution
1325, which deals with women, peace
and security.
Discussions at the 20 November workshop,
which was conducted by UNMIS’
Gender and Public Information units,
included gender-based violence and
the Comprehensive Peace Agreement
(CPA).
The workshop was attended by 29 participants
from Juba University, the Ministry
of Culture, Youth and Sport-incomplete,
and the youth from the Community Based
Organization.
The workshop was one of several to
be held in Southern Sudan to raise
awareness of women, peace and security
through dissemination of the Council
resolution. It also aimed to build
up the capacity of youth in promoting
the rights women and girls through
dissemination of the resolution as
well as dialogue and conflict resolution
by distributing the CPA.
