The QIP was begun last April when UN Police noticed the dismal working conditions and dilapidated condition of Ed Damazin Police Station. The project, which will provide office accommodation for local and UN Police, cost $ 24,010. Reconstruction of the facility, which commenced in June 2006, was completed in six months.

The building was handed over on behalf of UNMIS by Abdul-Dayem Mubarez, UNMIS Head of Office for Ed Damazin regional headquarters, and received by Col Ismail Ibrahim, ED Damazin Chief of Police.
