Political Negotiations on Darfur in Sirte
Accreditation
- Journalists wishing to cover the political negotiations on Darfur which starts in Sirte on October 27 should log on to AMIS or UNMIS website and download the accreditation form. Complete the form and produce together with your press card at the accreditation centre which will open on October 25 in Sirte.
- For accreditation with the Foreign Media Depart of the Libyan Foreign Ministry, it is recommended that correspondents spend a day in Tripoli. Transport to Sirte will be provided by the Libyan authorities. Contact:

- Press rooms with internet connections will be set up at the Conference centre in Sirte and at the Medina hotel as from October 25.
- Uplinks will be available at the Conference centre. The cost will be borne by users.
- International media correspondents and cameramen traveling to Libya with equipment should declare them on arrival. It is advisable to send details of the equipment to jiumaa47@yahoo.com or declare them at the Libya embassy in your country before departure. We also recommend that you send your flight details to the same address.
- Mobile phones operate on GSM 900 and 1800 networks and general telecommunications are being modernised. The two major service providers are Libyana and Madar. Sim cards for Libyana can be purchased for less than 25 Libyan Dinar.

Visas/ Vaccinations
- Visas are required by all except nationals for Arab countries. Libyan authorities advise that holders of Israeli passports or passports containing Israeli stamps will not be admitted. Visitors coming from any area where there has been an outbreak of any infectious disease must be in possession of valid vaccination certificates against such infectious diseases.
- Journalists wishing to cover the process should obtain their visas before traveling. We do not recommend visa on arrival.
