Duties and responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Head of Special Campaigns Unit, the Public Information Assistant is responsible for the following duties:

  • Provided specialized assistance to Public Information Officers in the production and delivery of information communications products and services.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of Public Information Officers and take minutes.
  • Assist in the creation of messages related to the UNMIS mandate
  • Provide assistance to special campaigns officer in the following areas: CPA, Role of UNMIS , Mine Awareness, IDP returns ,HIV/ AIDS, DDR, census, elections and other campaigns
  • Research, compile and present basic information for use in the preparation and production of communications products and services
  • Disseminate Public Information products to targeted groups
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Academic Background: Diploma in Journalism. Degree an asset. Another degree combined with media and journalism experience could be considered.
Relevant working experience: Minimum 5 years progressively responsible administrative and/or specialized experience in a Public Communications environment, or any media outlet
Necessary skills: Good interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to apply good judgement in the context of assignments given. Strong Computer skills and typing in both Arabic and English. Ability to work productively under pressure and cope with meeting deadlines.
Language: Fluency in written and spoken in both English and Arabic
