Under the supervision of the Chief Movement Control Officer, the incumbent will work within a large MovCon detachment or the Freight Planning Unit assisting in planning and implementation of cargo by air, road, rail and river movement operations and inclusive of the following duties.
- Assist the Freight Planning Unit, as and when required providing an interface and liaison capacity for Movement Control Operations with other UNMIS sections, UN agencies, and selected vendors on all aspects of support necessary to implement movement of cargo plans.
- Assist to arrange and coordinate movement activities within a sector or mission area, to
include road, air and river.
- Assist in planning and execution of movement of Contingent Own Equipment.
- Provide on the ground liaison and coordination with Inland Freight Companies on all aspects of support necessary to implement contingent movement plans or task orders.
- Maintain Data Base System updated in a daily basis, filing, digitally archive documents as cargo manifests, task orders, cargo movement requests and provide high level of customer service.
- Perform other duties as needed
- Assist in the planning and execution deployments, rotations and repatriations of Military Contingents and Civilian Police Personnel.
- As directed, assist in the coordination of the logistic support plans necessary to execute contingent movement.
- Assist in liaising and coordinating with UN air, sea and road transport agencies on all aspects of support necessary to implement contingent movement.
- Liaise and coordinate with Government departments on all aspects of support necessary to implement contingent movement plans.
- Identify and initiate where necessary, resources and services to facilitate the execution of movement control projects, undertake them or provide advice to the Chief MOVCON.
- Assist in the co-ordination of freight by land, sea, river and air.
- Assist in special projects when required.

Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of High School education, supplemented by technical/vocational training in the Logistics/Movement Control fields. Diploma on transportation of Dangerous Goods by Air and Certificate/Coursework/Training Logistics/Movement Control fields an asset
- Experience: Basic knowledge of logistics & Movement of goods/supplies. At least two years of progressive responsibility within the UN system, including at least 3 years in the field of national movement control and or other related fields.
- Language: Fluency in oral and written English; working knowledge of other official UN languages an advantage and sometimes a requirement.
- Other Desirable Skills: Knowledge of logistics operations and supply services. Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and cope with deadlines.
