General
Working within MovCon Khartoum Air Terminal detachment the incumbent will be tasked with assisting in the of the general day-to-day Liaison with Airport based local authorities on MovCon related operations of MovCon Khartoum Air Terminal detachment. In this post the incumbent is expected to perform a wide range of basic movement control activities. The incumbent is responsible to the detachment supervisor. At times the incumbent will take a supervisor role with respect to passenger and cargo movement at detachment level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the main duties of this post:
- Assist in the transmission of Passenger Manifests to National Security, CAA and Military Intelligence offices at Khartoum Airport for approval as part of flight clearances.
- Advise MovCon Manifesting Unit and any other offices once manifests are approved by local authorities and ensure necessary amendments are made as maybe required.
- Assist in the transmission of NON-UN passenger MOPs and supporting documentation to National Security, CAA and Military Intelligence offices at Khartoum airport for vetting and approval as part of flight clearances.
- Advise Manifesting Unit to manifest or not to, NON-UN passengers once approval/denial is received.
- Assist in obtaining flight clearances from the local authorities for urgent/VIP flights at short notice.
- Maintain contact and good working relationship with the relevant local authorities.
- Maintain contact with Air Operations on flight schedules and departures/arrivals timings of UN flights through Khartoum Airport.
- As a conscientious observer assist with airfield and air terminal security by ensuring that all passenger baggage is properly scanned and accounted for at time of check-in, the air passenger remain in designed areas while at the air terminal and all incidents or potential safety or security matters are reported in a timely manner
- Assist in the check-in of passengers flying on UNMIS aircraft to include manifest confirmation/amendments, baggage identification and weighing, distribution of boarding passes and passengers briefing.
- Assist with the boarding and deplaning of passengers, while remaining aware of standard safety procedures with respect to aircraft refuelling, use of cell phones and approaching aircraft.
- Oversee and coordinate the preparation and manifesting of air cargo to include the completion of dangerous certificates (if qualified), weighing of cargo, loading and the unloading. This duty includes oversight with respect to IATA dangerous Goods regulation this includes the physical actions of lifting and carrying cargo as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the detachment supervisor
Important note: The post requires the incumbent to work shifts or alternate schedules, which will include weekends and evenings.

- Technological awareness: Ability to operate a computer with MS Word, Excel Power Point and Access and Data bases. Ability to type in English and Arabic.
- Education: High school diploma, post-secondary education at college, university or specialized training institution is considered an asset. Nature and level of specialized training should include office management/business administration and technical and communications skills.
- Experience: At least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administration/Movcon/Logistic. Experience with UN/NGO or other International bodies an asset.
- Other skills: Demonstrated ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignments given. Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner. A high level of demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Language skills: Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
