Duties and responsibilities:
Under the supervision of Head of Radio Unit the language assistant performs the following duties:
- Translates messages and programmes from Arabic or English into local languages and records them for broadcast;
- Produce, present and record short radio dramas in Simple Arabic based on the above;
- Provide other translation services to and from local languages for Miraya Radio; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Completion of Secondary education with confirmed diploma/certificate in translation/interpretation. Excellent proven writing and reading skills in at least one of the local languages listed above. Proven translation skills from English or Arabic into at least one of these languages
- Experience: At least two (2) years of relevant work experience.

- Professionalism: Ability to produce accurate broadcastable items to deadline and to organize filing of these and associated materials
- Teamwork: Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with office colleagues, and local communities.
- Communication: Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively orally.
- Planning and Organizing - Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to handle own work in an efficient and timely manner.
- Commitment to Continuous Learning - Initiative and willingness to keep abreast of new developments in the language and radio production fields
- Technological awareness: Ability to operate a computer with MS Word or to rapidly learn to do so.
- Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English or Arabic. Knowledge of at least one of the required local languages
